Chase Loomer

    Chase Loomer is the Associate Director of Music at Christ Church Cathedral, Indianapolis and an active concert organist who has performed across North America. He holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music (B.M), where he studied with David Higgs; Yale University (M.M), where he studied with Martin Jean; and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Music degree at Indiana University, where he studies with Christopher Young. Originally from Charlotte, NC, Chase has received first prize in several competitions, including the 2018 Taylor Organ Competition and 2015 AGO/Quimby Southeast Regional Competition for Young Organists. In 2019, he was a semifinalist in the Longwood Gardens International Organ Competition. While at Yale, Chase received both the Robert Baker Scholarship from the ISM and the Julia R. Sherman Memorial Prize from the School of Music. He has performed at national and regional conventions of the AGO, at the annual festival of the American Liszt Society, and has been featured on the radio broadcast, Pipedreams on several occasions. An avid improviser, Chase has studied with Jeffrey Brillhart, Jeffrey Smith, Edoardo Bellotti, and Thierry Escaich. His collaborations include performances with the Yale Philharmonic Orchestra, Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra, and Bloomington Bach Society. In addition to organ, Chase is an active pianist (both jazz and classical), singer, harpsichordist, and is on the collaborative piano staff at Butler University. Outside of music, he enjoys weightlifting, biking, playing slowpitch softball, and spending time with friends and family
