Stephen Buzard is the Director of Music at St. James Cathedral in Chicago. His passion for working with choristers was sparked by attending numerous RSCM summer courses as a boy. He studied organ at Westminster Choir College and the Yale Institute of Sacred Music before becoming assistant organist at Saint Thomas Church in New York City. Following the tragic death of John Scott, Mr. Buzard became Acting Organist and Director of Music, leading the world-renowned choir of men and boys in their rigorous routine of daily services. Upon coming to Chicago, Mr. Buzard founded the St. James Cathedral Choir School, a multi-faceted chorister program for girls and boys in grades 3-8. In addition to being a choir trainer, Mr. Buzard is a sought-after concert organist with the Karen McFarlane roster. In his spare time, he is an avid cyclist and crossword puzzle enthusiast.
